Interning with Projects Abroad on the Physical Therapy program in Vietnam is an opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge in a country where specialized rehabilitation services are scarce and many people do not have access to basic treatment. As a student pursuing a career in the field of physical therapy, you will help support local staff, children, and/or adults.

In Vietnam, you will be placed in a rehabilitation center. These centers provide therapeutic and practical help for mentally and physically disabled children, as well as educational training and medical care. Adults who suffer from the consequences of war also get a variety of help.

You will work alongside one of the local staff. Depending on your experience, you may be given you own groups of children or adults to work with independently. You may even be asked to work with your own individual patients and it would be a great help for you to spend some time sharing your knowledge and skills to fellow staff.

All Medicine & Healthcare interns in Vietnam must have completed at least one year of pre-medical or healthcare related studies or training by the time they join this project.

Interning Abroad as a Physical Therapist in Vietnam with Projects Abroad

At whichever rehabilitation center you find yourself, you will go home safe in the knowledge that you have made a lasting contribution to one of these projects and the people it serves. This internship is also a chance to boost your resume, offering practical and meaningful experience that may be difficult to get in North America.

The location of your placement will determine what kind of accommodation you will stay in. During your free time, you will be able to explore the area and socialize with other volunteers.

Every day I leave work with both a sense of accomplishment and a desire to learn more the next day. The hands-on experience in this field is invaluable and being able to observe patients improving is as gratifying as it can get. Read more...

Physical Therapy internships in Vietnam are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.
