Take part in fun and educational activities with local children on our Middle School Special in Ghana

Travel to Ghana on our Building & Community Middle School Special to experience the benefits of international volunteering and to learn about a new country and culture. Give back to a local community through renovation work, dialogue on healthier living, help local children through educational activities, and take part in a sports day. The project is supervised by Projects Abroad staff, and is a great opportunity to make lasting friendships with others your age from around the world.

On this Middle School Special, you will get to learn by meeting people who have different lived experiences to you. We all have things in common, but also have so much to learn from one another. Use this opportunity to learn about community service, by taking part in the following types of activities:

  • Renovation work in the Akokoa community
  • Dialogue with locals around personal hygiene
  • Talk about the importance of healthy eating
  • Play games and educational activities
  • Participating in a sports day

Fellow volunteers on your Middle School Special will become life-long friends

Our experienced local staff will guide your daily activities and if you have any questions, a Projects Abroad staff member will be there to give you advice.

All students on a Middle School Special in Ghana live with a local host family, which is a fantastic way to get to know the local culture. Each day, you’ll eat meals with your fellow international and get to exchange stories and learn more about each other. This cultural exchange is immensely valuable as it will broaden your cultural horizons and open the world up to you.

A trip to Ghana would not be complete without social and weekend activities for you to enjoy. Learn how music and dance fit into Ghanaian culture by taking part in a dance lesson at your host family or learn how to cook a traditional meal on a different evening. On the weekend, we have organized a trip to Cape Coast to explore a castle, relax at a beach, and enjoy stunning views from a Canopy Walk in Kakum Forest.
