You will help provide the local community with the care that they would not normally have access to, and under supervision, you will be able to provide them with the medication they have been prescribed by local doctors.
During your project, you will live with a local host family. This is a great way to learn about a new culture, and your host family will be able to give you advice on what to see and do. When you aren’t at your host family or working at your placement, you will have the opportunity to spend time with other Projects Abroad volunteers and explore Ghana together.
Pharmacy internships in Ghana are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local staff.
