Amharic Language Courses

Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating Ethiopian culture on one of our intensive Amharic Language projects.

Amharic is the native language of Ethiopia. You can learn Amharic through Projects Abroad on an intensive Language Project, where you will receive 15 hours of tuition each week. With accommodation with a local family, you'll learn quickly and can practice what you've learned with your hosts each day.

After your lessons you will, of course, have plenty of time to complete your homework, practice your Amharic with your host family and the local community, and explore the area with other volunteers.

Alternatively you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour language course in Amharic. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your volunteer placement. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your placement. For more information please visit our Language Add-ons page.

Rebecca H.
It was exciting for me to learn a new language which really came in handy day-to-day and was especially useful with helping to teach the kids. I enjoyed my classes so much that I am continuing with them back in England so when I return to Ethiopia, I can dazzle everyone with my Amharic! Read more...
