Local Thai children will

As a Projects Abroad volunteer on the Teaching in Thailand Grown-up Special, you will make an impact on a local community by helping students develop their English skills. Thailand is a popular country amongst travellers and speaking a global language like English is a crucial skill which can open doors to better employment opportunities in the Thai tourism industry.

In disadvantaged and more rural areas in Thailand, English skills are limited, as many schools are affected by a lack of resources and a shortage of English teachers. As a teacher in Thailand, you will improve employment prospects for your students, positively impacting them and their families.

Teaching English in Thailand as a grown-up with Projects Abroad

As a Teaching volunteer, you will be based on the west coast of southern Thailand in the town of Krabi. You will lead your own classes at a secondary school or technical college, working to raise students’ confidence and improve their English skills.

It is encouraged that you prepare and incorporate new and exciting teaching techniques in your classes. You can run interactive activities like conversational role play between students. This will help students build their self-confidence and have a positive attitude towards learning English. You can also teach students about your own culture, which makes learning English more fun and interesting.

Experiencing Thailand during your Teaching Placement

During your stay, you will live in volunteer bungalows. To ensure you get the most out of your experience and enjoy the local culture, plenty has been planned during your free time. Over the weekend, you will go on a trip to Koh Klang Island, where you will have a boat tour and participate in cultural activities such as Batik painting. You will also have the opportunity to visit temples and waterfalls and learn how to cook a traditional Thai dish.
