Volunteers receive a language lesson as an add on to their project

Studying Languages Abroad

Travel abroad and learn a language as you immerse yourself in a new culture

Improve your language skills while living abroad and exploring new places. Projects Abroad Language Courses let you learn your chosen language from highly trained native speakers. We believe that everyone can get more out of their experiences when they learn new skills and the ability to strike up conversations with the people they live and work near.

Learning a local language, or a major language spoken around the world, will help you better understand the cultures and perspectives in your chosen destination.

As you learn a language abroad with us, you can choose from one-to-one or group lessons, with varying hours over one, two, three, or four weeks. Lessons will cover speaking, listening, reading and writing. These can be standalone classes or added on to many of our existing projects.

Invest in yourself by becoming a better communicator and reap the rewards that come from speaking another language.

What will I gain from a language immersion programme?

Learning a language abroad gives you skills that prepare you for your next stage of education and career, as well as broadening your life experience.

Here are just some of the benefits that our previous volunteers talk about:

  • Soft skills like teamwork, communication and time management.
  • Gain proficiency in your chosen language.
  • Get more out of your travels by being able to communicate better with the local community.
  •  Confidence from pushing past your comfort zone.

All of the above will enhance your resume and your personal development.

One of the most beneficial things that I took away from this experience was my Spanish skills. After spending four weeks in Argentina, conversing almost every second in another language, my Spanish skills developed more than I ever thought they would. - Kaylie E, Medicine & Spanish High School Special in Argentina
