The Care & Community program in Cambodia combines working with underprivileged children in one of Cambodia's many care centers with some hands-on work within these communities. Volunteers will live and work in the capital city of Phnom Penh. You may stay in a shared volunteer house or apartment or with other High School Special volunteers in hostel accommodation.

The work will involve fun educational activities with the children and your ideas for games, songs, and arts and crafts will be welcomed. You will also work on some painting and decorating projects to improve the conditions of our partner centers, which will be greatly appreciated by both the children and the local staff.

Teenage volunteers, working on a Care & Community project in Cambodia, enjoy some time with the children from their placement

No trip to Cambodia is complete without a visit to the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat, so the weekend trip will allow you time to view several of the main temple sites.

This project is also available as a 4-week program on select dates. If you stay longer you will be able to spend more time at your placement and do more work in the community. Those joining us on the four week program will also get extra visits and activities arranged during the weekends.

You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Cambodia Care Management Plan.

Adil Yaqoob
Playing with the children who had learning disabilities was the most rewarding activity. They do not have their parent’s constant love and attention so making them smile and laugh was really good and rewarding. Additionally some of the children needed physiotherapy so some volunteers and I also helped with that. Read more...
