We've Seen Over 140,000+ Participants Since 1992
Absolutely life changing.
The only complaint I have is that it wasn't longer.
Volunteering in Cambodia and meeting like-minded individuals is a priceless experience I absolutely encourage you to attend a project or even better send your kids here.

How Do Volunteer Programs Abroad Work?
At its core, it involves travelling overseas with other teens to help communities in need.
Think of it as an adventure with purpose, immersing yourself in a new culture while making a positive impact.
You could help teach English to disadvantaged children, preserve and monitor endangered species, construct crucial buildings for communities in need, and much more.
Your experiences will transform the lives of those you work with and help you develop vital skills for your education, career, and personal development.
The programs run during summer vacation and last a minimum of two weeks, so you'll have enough time to fully immerse yourself and make an impact on the project.
What Experience Do I Need?
Our programs are designed for teens aged 15 to 18, so you don’t need experience to join — we’ll ensure you’re prepared, supported, and ready to go.
There are also no language requirements for our teen programs, as English is spoken at a basic level in most countries we work in, you won't need to know the native language; however, you will likely pick up some phrases while there!
Are These Programs Safe?
Safety is our number one priority. We only send teens to safe and politically stable countries and destinations.
We are constantly in contact with the British Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) (as well as officials in other countries), regarding safety and stability.
We also devise and train our local staff on crisis management plans so they know what to do if an unforeseen situation occurs.
We're here for you every step of the way. From the moment you start planning your trip to the day you head home, we'll be here to support you.
Will I Be Alone On These Programs?
No! You'll meet and live with like-minded teens from around the world.
Shared, supervised accommodation
- You'll live in shared accommodation with other teen volunteers. This will be same-gender accommodation in host families, hotels ,shared apartment, and homestays
- Projects Abroad staff stay nearby to provide continued supervision through the night
Flying with other teens
- If other teens are flying from the same airport and joining you on the same dates, we’ll try to connect you so you can fly together
- If you are unsure about flying alone, we offer chaperoned flights on some programs to help ease the nerves. On these, a member of our team will meet you at the airport, then fly with you and other volunteers to their destination (and on the return flight home).
- Whether they fly alone or with other volunteers, you'll always be able to contact our team in the unlikely event that they have any issues during their journey
Airport pickup
- A Projects Abroad staff member will pick you up from the destination airport, no matter what country, project, or time you arrive
- You'll be given the contact details of the staff member who will be meeting you on arrival. They’ll be waiting at the airport with a Project Abroad sign and appropriate identification
Why Travel with Projects Abroad

Once you arrive, our programs are scheduled to teach new perspectives, develop real-world skills and support local communities with meaningful and varied activities.
- Fully-trained staff supporting you 24/7
- Pre-departure guidance and travel planning
- Vetted accommodations, transportation, and meal plans
- Emergency support and comprehensive risk management
- Foreign SIM card guidance
- Since 1992, we’ve helped over 140,000+ participants travel abroad safely
As a Learning Outside of the Classroom (LoTC) Quality Badge holder, safety is our priority, and all of our programs undergo rigorous safety assessments.
We are also fully BS 8848 certified. BS 8848 is the British Standard for organising and managing visits, fieldwork, expeditions, and adventurous activities. It sets out to help ensure our operations are effective at managing risk and help reduce the likelihood of incidents.
