South Africa is the perfect destination if you are interested in volunteering in a diverse multicultural environment. On the two-week Care & Community project, you will be based in Cape Town, where you will travel and work with a group of volunteers your age. You do not need any experience or special skills to take part. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to make a difference.
You will volunteer at an underprivileged school and work with children aged 7-13, teaching a variety of classes. Here, you will be able to contribute to the students’ educational development and teach them valuable life skills.
In the afternoons, you will be able to make a lasting contribution to the school by painting a classroom and participating in other maintenance activities. This is a valuable way for volunteers to give disadvantaged students a healthier learning environment.
During your time abroad, you will live with a host family, which allows you to become fully immersed in the local way of life. Evenings are set aside for cultural or leisure activities organized by Projects Abroad staff. These include visits to Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and the historic Robben Island. On the weekend, we will organize a trip to the famous Garden Route, where you see the beauty of South Africa and enjoy the breath-taking natural environment.
