Volunteering in Africa

As an international volunteer with Projects Abroad, you will have the opportunity to explore the vibrant continent of Africa. Whether you want to volunteer in Africa during your gap year, career break or as a volunteer vacation, Projects Abroad has a program to suit your interests. Volunteering in Africa will provide you with a fantastic platform from which to learn about this fascinating continent and its people.
While you do volunteer work in Africa, you will also have free time, giving you the opportunity to travel and tour other cities. Whether hiking in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa or basking on the beaches in South Africa, we can guarantee that you will not be bored!
Volunteer Programs in Africa

Volunteer opportunities with Projects Abroad are available in six countries located in each region of Africa. Choose from teaching English to school children in Ethiopia or Morocco, working on a human rights project in Ghana or Togo, doing conservation work in South Africa or Mozambique, helping children in Tanzania or working as a radio journalist in Senegal. In the world’s second-largest and second most-populated continent, you are bound to find a region and project to suit your interests!
Volunteer Opportunities in Africa
No matter your choice of region or project to volunteer in Africa, you will have an important role to play and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. School children will benefit from the knowledge you impart, wild life will gain from your conservation efforts, and locals will benefit from your journalistic perspective.
The experience continues from your work to your living accommodations. Everyone on a volunteer placement with Projects Abroad in Africa has the opportunity to live with a host family. You will find them incredibly welcoming and they will doubtless be eager to find out all about you and your life back home. Take plenty of photos with you and be prepared for lots of questions!
