Nepal is a beautiful country with many fantastic opportunities to volunteer and intern within its borders. Nepal is a tiny, stunning land of snow-capped mountains, majestic old temples and the colorful city of Kathmandu. The home of Mount Everest, draped along the backbone of the Himalayas, Nepal entices all kinds of people – and they don't go home disappointed.
Nepal has historically been a shrewd trader with both India to the South and China to the North. It is also in a transitional stage from royal autocracy to a form of democracy.

The geographical location of Nepal makes it one of the most bio diverse countries on the planet. As well as the mountains you will find windswept deserts, green paddy fields and jungles teeming with exotic wildlife.

Teaching

This friendly and welcoming country has a rich history and offers much for the adventurous traveler. The capital city, Kathmandu, is transforming from an ancient place filled with crooked streets into a vibrant, modern metropolis. The city is becoming an extroverted and lively destination, and although Western influences mean that you will certainly see modern-looking businessmen, there is still plenty of evidence of the simpler life.

Our volunteer office is based in the bustling city of Kathmandu – a place full of jostling crowds, rickety bullock carts and noisy auto-rickshaws. Voluntary placements are mostly located here as well, although some are to be found in more rural outreaches of the Kathmandu Valley.

Wherever you are based, you’ll experience the friendliness of this country first-hand from the host family whose house you will be calling home. All our volunteers stay with such a family and always build strong ties of friendship with them. Be ready to explore – and be accepting of – their culture and you will have a truly amazing time.

Volunteer Travel and Tourism in Nepal

On your days off from voluntary work, there’s always something going on in Nepal. Kathmandu attracts pilgrims as well as tourists, so there are plenty of religious festivals, rallies and attractions.

You can try a pizza Nepali-style, feast on the traditional Dal Bhat, or enjoy a buffalo steak at the Everest Steak House. If you’re hungry for something other than food, visit the temples in Durbar Square, or go mountain biking in the Kathmandu Valley.

Nepal is the perfect location for anyone who loves the outdoors. The mountainous terrain is perfect for those seeking extreme climbing or trekking activities. Who wouldn’t relish the unforgettable experience of hiking in the foothills of Mount Everest? There are also places to go white-water rafting in the foaming glacial rivers, or take an adventure trek through the jungle.
