Global Administration

Peter Slowe - Director

Peter Slowe - Director

Peter set up Projects Abroad in 1992. He is involved with all aspects of the business from setting up new destinations to supervising recruitment campaigns in the US and Continental Europe.

Sue Revill - PA & Senior Administrator

Sue Revill - PA & Senior Administrator

Sue spends the majority of her time working directly for the Managing Director, Dr. Peter Slowe. She also works closely with the Administration team, helping to ensure each volunteer application is dealt with efficiently.

Overseas Team

Richard Clowes - Deputy Director

Richard Clowes - Deputy Director

Richard coordinates the overseas team and maintains a close contact with our overseas offices. He has to ensure that each of our overseas offices is suitably staffed.

Greg Thomson - Operations Director

Greg Thomson - Operations Director

Greg coordinates placements around the world, supervises the preparation of volunteers and supervises our destination staff and our IT team. He spent six months in 2004 working as Director of our Ghana programme.

Suzi Lamb - International Development Manager

Suzi Lamb - International Development Manager

Suzi liaises with our overseas teams on a daily basis and assists with overseas staff training - most recently working in Senegal, Thailand and Cambodia. She spent fifteen months working as Assistant Manager in Ghana before joining the development team in May 2004.

Terry Thornhill - Operations Manager

Terry Thornhill - Operations Manager

Terry co-ordinates administrative and communications matters in our offices around the world. He works closely with our IT team on developing our database and innovatory administrative systems.

Jo Walton - International Development Officer

Jo Walton - International Development Officer

Jo worked for Projects Abroad as assistant manager in Sri Lanka for a year from summer 2005, before moving on to work in Cambodia, and finally helping to set up our new projects in Ethiopia at the start of 2007. Jo has a degree in biology and was a volunteer during her gap year in South America. She enjoys surfing and kayaking (badly!), camping, hiking and travelling the world as slowly as possible.

Global Administration

Chinnasamy Rajendran - Head of Administration

Chinnasamy Rajendran - Head of Administration

Rajendran combines working as the India Country Director and the head of our administration team based in India. Rajendran met Peter Slowe whilst a young teacher in Kashmir. Twenty years later as the Deputy Head of a big school in Tamil Nadu he took responsibility for some Projects Abroad volunteers. Now our India office is one of the biggest in the world.

Otgonbayar Togtuuny - Director of Finance

Otgonbayar Togtuuny - Director of Finance

Oko is both the Director of our projects in Mongolia and the Director of Finance. Oko has spent time working in Korea and the UK. He now enjoys living back in Ulaanbaatar with his wife and two children. Having studied for his MBA in Korea, he returned home to Mongolia with his Korean wife, Sang Em. He enjoys singing and is famed for his karaoke skills. He is also the current holder of the Projects Abroad poker championship.

Szilard Gyorgy - Senior IT Manager

Szilard Gyorgy - Senior IT Manager

Szilard joined Projects Abroad in 2003. He also manages the Romanian IT team and is primarily responsible for developing and managing our online database system and computer network worldwide.

Arthur Radulescu - SEO Manager

Arthur Radulescu - SEO Manager

Arthur joined Projects Abroad in September 2005. He is responsible for developing and managing optimization for our websites, as well responsible for all text changes within our websites. He enjoys spending his free time climbing mountains, playing the guitar and swimming.

Ciprian Radu - Head of Programming Department

Ciprian Radu - Head of Programming Department

Ciprian joined Projects Abroad in April 2006. He is responsible for maintaining our online database and creating our new operational system. He enjoys playing pool and swimming. He also loves Parkour.

Lucian Arion - Senior Web Designer/Developer

Lucian Arion - Senior Web Designer/Developer

Lucian is based in our IT Office in Brasov, Romania and is responsible for developing our websites. Since he joined Projects Abroad in February 2005 he is constantly trying to improve our flow of information using IT and maintain our websites to the latest standards. He is addicted to trance music and enjoys spending time with his beautiful girlfriend Elena Loredana.

Gabriela Bartalis - Web Designer

Gabriela Bartalis - Web Designer

Gabi joined Projects Abroad in February 2006. She is responsible for our project websites and assists Lucian with web design and publicity material. She enjoys spending time with her two "boys": Fery (her husband) and her dear, special son Francisc.

Loredana Teiu - Web editor

Loredana Teiu - Web editor

Loredana joined Projects Abroad in July 2006. She assists Arthur with text changes and updates to our websites. Her hobbies are computers, listening to music and nature.

Ovidiu Curcan - PHP Programmer

Ovidiu Curcan - PHP Programmer

Ovidiu joined Projects Abroad in April 2007. He is responsible for maintaining and developing our online database system. He enjoys studying arcane programming languages (Haskell, anyone?), algorithms and networking (pursuing CCNA and CCNP).

Antonio Gallo - Design Team Manager

Antonio is our lead designer. He is responsible for creating and maintaining our website and publicity material.

Salvador Orozco (Chava) - Graphic Designer

Salvador Orozco (Chava) - Graphic Designer

Chava is based in our Mexico office and assists Tonio with web design and particularly enjoys developing new web technologies. Chava used to be part of the Mexico rollerblade team, but now likes calmer activities like spending time with his young daughter.

Pabbu - Deputy Head of Administration

Pabbu has been working for Projects Abroad since April 2002 after completing his degree in Computer Application. He combines his administration role with the position of India Desk Officer.

Jeyakumar Alwarsamy - Administrator

Jeyakumar Alwarsamy - Administrator

Jeyakumar answers volunteers' queries regarding visas. He has worked for Projects Abroad since May 2005. He enjoys reading newspapers, and watching both cricket and tennis.

Venkatasubramanian Ramanathan - Administrator

Venkatasubramanian Ramanathan - Administrator

Venkat is responsible for carrying out amendments, answering insurance questions, checking references, checking payments and giving on-line solutions regarding volunteers' individual websites. He enjoys reading books about economics, finance, history and geography.

Sriram Dinakarabose - Administrator

Sriram Dinakarabose - Administrator

Sriram joined Projects Abroad in April 2006. He processes arrival forms, pre-departure questionnaires, vegetarian forms and address information details. His hobby is reading.

Sridhar Ponnusamy - Administrator

Sridhar Ponnusamy - Administrator

Sridhar has been working in the administration team since May 2006 and helps to arrange volunteer travel arrangements. He previously working for a computer firm in Madurai and spent a year working in Sri Lanka. He likes playing cricket and listening to music.

Senthilkumar Durairaj - Administrator

Senthil's role includes processing volunteer certificates, assisting with the alumni system and managing the e-filing system. His hobbies are playing cricket and football, listening music and reading.

Saravanan Murugaiah - Administrator

Saravanan Murugaiah - Administrator

Saravanan joined Projects Abroad in July 2005 and this is my first job. His role in the travel team is to send request to agents and check arrival details for volunteers. He also checks balances and sends out medical referral forms. He enjoys reading, spending time with friends and travelling.

Ramchand has been working with Projects Abroad since May 2006. He is responsible for processing applications. He likes reading novels, chatting, gardening and watching films.

Karthick joined Projects Abroad in April 2006. His role includes sending out invoices and checking balance payments. His hobbies are reading IT magazines and listening to music.

Charlesprabhu Vetrirajan - Administrator

Charles joined the Projects Abroad administrative team in May 2005. He answers volunteers' queries on visas and issues visa documents at the appropriate times. He also assists with invoices, checklists and application acceptances. He enjoys playing and watching cricket, listening to music, and watching films.

Before joining Projects Abroad in May 2006 Asir worked as a social worker on an NGO AIDS Project. As an administrator he assists with e-filing, acceptances, programme summaries, travel arrangements and Open Day administration.

Julius Swami Raj Raja Kumar - Administrator

Working for Projects Abroad since May 2005, Julius' role in the travel team is to ensure that the correct flights are booked for volunteers who request them. His hobbies include environmental and development photography and documentation. He enjoys the company of his daughter and son at the weekends.

Usuhuu joined Projects Abroad Mongolia in May 2006 after graduating in International Business Administration from Ulaanbaatar University. She provides support to Oko in his role as Finance Director. Nobody has ever seen Usuhuu without a huge smile on her face. In her spare time she enjoys reading and she also sings in a band called "Wind".

Munkhyuya Sodonotseren (Tuya) - Finance Officer

Tuya became part of the Projects Abroad team in Mongolia in May 2006 after graduating from Ulaanbaatar University with a degree in International Business Management. She also provides support for Oko in his role as Finance Director, but often helps with volunteer's problems as well. In her spare time Tuya likes listening to music and playing volleyball.

Abbey Hampton - UK Travel and Administration Manager

Abbey makes sure that volunteers and staff arrive in the right place at the right time by ensuring co-ordination between our recruitment and administration offices, especially for international flights used by our volunteers and staff. Abbey also helps to run our general administration in the UK.

Serena is responsible to the Director of Finance for managing financial matters in our organisation and ensuring each overseas programme is appropriately funded.

Karen Slowe - Travel and Contracts Manager

Karen has set-up, and now manages, our travel and human resource systems.

Antony Squires - Administrator

Antony Squires - Administrator

Antony is involved in all areas of general administration, with a particular emphasis on dealing with the initial stages of your application and chasing up visas. Outside of work he divides his time between his passions for cycling, music and darts.

UK Recruitment Team

Ian Birbeck - Recruitment Director

Ian Birbeck - Recruitment Director

Ian is in charge of our Recruitment team. He coordinates the programme of visits, talks and publicity about Projects Abroad around the world.

Faye Stickings - Head of Social Management

Faye Stickings - Head of Social Management

Faye joined us after completing three months as a volunteer in Ghana in spring 2005. She co-ordinates and works with our huge network of returned volunteers who help us at various events around the UK. Faye is also responsible for managing and training a team of Social Management staff in our destination countries and deals with new enquiries from potential volunteers.

Robert Kidd - Programme Advisor

Robert Kidd - Programme Advisor

Rob joined Projects Abroad in Feb 2006. He is widely travelled and has volunteered in a number of areas, including teaching in Colombia and archaeology in Italy. Rob talks to potential volunteers about our projects and attends events at schools and universities across the UK.

Scott McQuarrie - Programme Advisor

Scott McQuarrie - Programme Advisor

Scott comes from Glasgow, Scotland and joined the UK team in September 2006. Scott volunteered with Projects Abroad in Ghana and has also visited projects in Romania and Moldova. He studied Sport at university and now promotes our sport and archaeology projects to potential volunteers.

Rose provides administrative support to the Recruitment Team. She organises our busy diary of talks, school visits and career fairs, assists with open day logistics and helps to contact volunteers once they've returned from their placements.

Overseas Recruitment Team

Will Pashley - in Australia

Will Pashley - in Australia

Will first joined as a volunteer teacher in Moldova in 1992. Since that eye opening experience he has gone through a variety of jobs and travels and now runs the Australia office from Adelaide. He is a regular sportsman who is frequently found with a cricket bat in his hand.

Karen Panum Thisted - in Denmark

Karen Panum Thisted - in Denmark

Karen is currently studying for a Bachelor in Business, Language and Culture from Copenhagen Business School. She volunteered in 2004 with Projects Abroad on both the Conservation Project in Mexico and the Conservation Project in Peru.

Frank Seidel - in France

Frank Seidel - in France

Frank heads our recruitment office in France. He has 15 years of volunteering experience and has edited a guidebook on conservation placements since 1991. A native German, Frank has now settled in Grenoble where he enjoys hiking and ski-touring in the French Alps.

Michael Harms - in Germany

Michael Harms - in Germany

Michael has been working for Projects Abroad in Germany since 2003. He has recenty visited our projects in Ghana and China. Michael studied German literature and spends most of his free time reading fiction and playing football in a semi-professional team.

Laurens Vos - in Holland

Laurens coordinates our recruitment in the Netherlands . He originally joined Projects Abroad as a volunteer in South Africa . In his spare time Laurens enjoys photography. He also loves spending time with his newly born daughter Philien.

Simona Eco - in Italy

Simona Eco - in Italy

Simona has volunteering and working experience in different countries of Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. She is now back in Italy where she coordinates with Serena our new recruitment office, opened on August 2007 in the beautiful city of Naples.

Serena Messina - in Italy

Serena Messina - in Italy

Serena is an expert in gender studies. She has many years of volunteering and professional experience with several associations and NGOs in Africa and Latin America. After visiting our projects in Costa Rica, Serena is now responsible for the new Italian Projects Abroad office together with Simona.

Yuko Kawano - in Japan

Yuko Kawano - in Japan

Yuko is native of Gifu, a lovely city near Nagoya, Japan's second largest. Although a native Japanese speaker, she is fluent in English and Spanish. She studied International Conflict Resolution at San Diego State, studying in Uruguay for a semester and volunteering with Projects Abroad in Bolivia. Since then, Yuko has been back to Latin America several times.
