North American Personnel
Projects Abroad Inc., which has offices in New York City and Toronto, is responsible for helping Americans and Canadians pick out the projects that might suit them. They also help spread the word about our projects by managing contacts with high schools, universities, student groups and gap year advisors.
![]() | Tom Pastorius - Head of North American Recruitment Tom runs Projects Abroad in New York, our exclusive outlet in the USA. Tom graduated from Princeton University and he has visited a number of our destinations - he's always eager to get out and see another part of the world. Tom enjoys running and the outdoor life. |
![]() | Robert Levine - Director, Projects Abroad Canada Rob began his adventures with Projects Abroad back in 2005 when he helped create our Drama Placement in Romania. After returning to Brasov several times to cultivate the program, he has come to consider the country his second home. An Ottawa native (go Senators!), he now lives in Toronto where he runs our exclusive Canadian office. In life, Rob cherishes two very different, but equally essential pursuits: theatre and maple sugar candies. |
![]() | Will Harper - Deputy Director, Projects Abroad USA Will was a volunteer back in the summer of 2003, when he set up a program that takes orphans to important historical sites throughout Romania. He has also spent a summer in the Middle East researching his senior thesis and just finished his B.A. in Art History from Yale University. Will was a rugby player in college and used to work at an airport refueling planes in his free time. |
![]() | Jessye Crowe-Rothstein - Program Advisor Jessye has traveled extensively over the years and spent two years of college at a school in southern Switzerland, where she participated in many course-related trips. Jessye's international volunteer experience includes working with street children in Ecuador and building homes in Costa Rica. |
![]() | Kelsy Nelson - Program Advisor Voted "Most American" by her Projects Abroad peers, Kelsy hails from the sunny shores of Oakland, California. While majoring in International Relations at American University, Kelsy got independent credit by volunteering with Projects Abroad in Peru and India. Later, she worked in our Guadalajara office. Aside from collecting discount designer eyewear, she enjoys figure skating and inventing new mathematical systems. |
![]() | Heather Burley - Program Advisor Heather comes from British Columbia, which, she informs us, is neither British nor in Colombia. Specifically, from Victoria - a retirement community for Vancouverites. A fluent French speaker, she volunteered with us in Senegal before joining our staff in Guadalajara, Mexico. These days, she splits her time between West Africa, Mexico and Canada. It's a hard life, but someone has to live it. |
