If you choose a Print Journalism placement, you will work at local Spanish-language newspaper. Here, you will get involved in researching and writing articles on topics that interest you, such as cultural events in the community. Let our local staff and your editor know what interests you have and we will tailor your placement accordingly as best we can.
This placement offers you the opportunity to get directly involved with the production of a professional publication, whether it be interviewing locals about their opinions on a topical issue or writing about the latest sports event. By the end of your internship, you should have a variety of published articles to add to your portfolio.
International Radio Journalism Internships in Mexico
In Mexico, you can also join a journalism internship at a radio station in the town of Ciudad Guzman. The radio station belongs to the Journalism department of a local university and is one of few neutral stations, having no strong commercial or political influences. It is an immensely popular station in Guzman and listeners like to hear presenters from around the world.
Your local colleagues will welcome you to the team and appreciate any new ideas you bring. They will involve you in all of the different aspects of radio, from researching topics, conducting interviews, and presenting on-air. When you are researching topics or interviewing out in the field, you will always be accompanied by a local journalist or journalism student.
If you can demonstrate enthusiasm and creativity, you will be offered plenty of opportunities to get involved in different stories and projects. When you first arrive, you will spend some time observing before actively participating in radio production and behind the scenes work. Once you feel confident, you can progress to creating your own radio show, with a combination of interviews, music, or current affairs. This internship can be whatever you want it to be!
