Based in Nanyuki, this program offers the experience to learn about public health and healthcare in a developing country. The work will be varied and rewarding. You could be learning from local doctors in a health clinic one day and treating and educating families in poorer, more rural communities the next.

Projects Abroad Medicine High School Special volunteers with local doctors in Nanyuki, Kenya.

You will have the chance to attend medical workshops and learn more about current local issues such as HIV and tropical diseases. One of the goals of the program is to help teach the younger generation about the importance of staying healthy. During your time in Kenya you will be able to get involved in health checks in care centers and also run fun and interactive activities with the children regarding various healthcare issues.

While on the Medicine in Kenya project you will also be able to experience living with a Kenyan host family.

During the weekend you will get the opportunity to experience the stunning scenery and spectacular wildlife in one of Kenya’s mystical forests or wildlife conservancies.

You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Kenya Medicine & Healthcare Management Plan.
