Our Care & Community project is based in Lomé, the vibrant capital city of Togo. This is a great project for anyone who loves working with children and who also wants to make a lasting contribution doing some hands-on renovation work.
In the mornings, volunteers work in either an orphanage or day care center doing basic educational activities with the children. Volunteers also help with games and day-to-day work such as feeding the children.
In the afternoons, volunteers work together to do some light renovation work at a local school or community building project.
Volunteers stay with local host families to get a real taste of Togolese culture. Throughout the trip volunteers have the chance to take part in djembe drum classes, learn local crafts, and also have an introductory lesson in the Ewe language.
During the weekend volunteers take a trip to Kpalimé, a mountain village surrounded by cocoa plantations. This gives volunteers a chance to explore the scenery, visit waterfalls, and see a more traditional, rural way of life.
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Togo Care Management Plan.
