Interning abroad in Central America is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in a new country and culture while doing valuable work and gaining international resume-building experience. In Central America, you can choose from internships in the areas of Medicine & Healthcare, Business, and Journalism in Costa Rica and Belize. If you are interested in an internship in veterinary medicine or law and human rights, a variety of internships in a wide range of settings and fields are available all over the world.

By interning in Central America you will make a valuable contribution to a developing economy while learning a great deal about your chosen field. Whether you are interning at a a professional newspaper in Heredia or providing healthcare to disadvantaged communities in Placencia, you will gain unique experience being directly involved in a professional environment overseas, an experience that varies greatly from anything available in North America and that will set you apart. Depending on the program, interns work anywhere from 30 – 40 hours a week. All internships in Central America require at least intermediate Spanish to be able to make a close connection with colleagues, clients, and patients.

Our interns and volunteers come from all over the world, and your international internship in Central America will give you a broader perspective on the world and a deeper understanding of different cultures.
