As a Projects Abroad Speech Therapy intern in Morocco you will work at centers for children with special needs. The facilities are basic and you will not have many materials to work with. You will have to be up to the challenge to work hard and creatively to help improve the quality of life of the children you are helping.
Speech Therapy interns can work in a daycare center for children aged 3 -12 who have either been abandoned or orphaned. All the children have learning disabilities or special needs. The center provides various therapy treatments and is open to all methods of care to help the children.
Interns also can work in a school for girls with mental disabilities. The children are aged between 6 and 15 years old. Here the focus is on developing independence to allow the girls to integrate into mainstream society.
Interning Abroad as a Speech Therapist in Morocco with Projects Abroad
Both placements need assistance with speech therapy to help the children with communication. To start with your role will mainly be to work alongside local staff, observing what they do and discussing treatments with them. As you build a relationship with the staff, you will be able to take on more responsibilities yourself treating the children.
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Morocco Medicine & Healthcare Management Plan.

Speech Therapy internships in Morocco are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.
