Learn Spanish in Costa Rica

Volunteers in Costa Rica enjoy their leisure time after volunteer work

Joining a Spanish Language Course in Costa Rica with Projects Abroad is a fantastic way to develop your language skills. You will be based in the town of Heredia, where you will have 15 hours of tutoring a week with a qualified teacher on a one-on-one basis. You may also be paired with another volunteer who speaks the same level of Spanish. You will learn quickly - especially because you will also have plenty of opportunities to practice your new skills while staying with your Spanish-speaking host family.

The intensive classes are tailored to suit your ability. Whether you are a complete beginner or have been learning Spanish for several years, being surrounded by the language every day will help your skills progress in leaps and bounds. After your lessons and homework, there is plenty of free time for you to explore the local area.

Costa Rica is a rugged country with many national parks, mountains, and volcanoes. It's also a great place to use as a base to visit other Central American countries like Nicaragua and Panama. After completing a Spanish Language Course, you could also participate in volunteer work on projects including Teaching, Care, and Conservation, and more.

Alternatively you can undertake a short 5-hour, 14-hour, or 30-hour course in Spanish. These courses are tailored to your needs and run alongside your main volunteer project. If you are planning on volunteering abroad for twelve weeks or more, you could also complete a 60-hour course alongside your volunteer experience.
