This program is structured to give you an incredible insight into medical practices in Nepal. Your project will begin in the intriguing Nepalese capital Kathmandu from where you will travel to Chitwan. Here, medical interns will experience a multi-speciality hospital and take part in lectures at the local teaching hospital.
You will live either with a host family or in hostel accommodation close to the areas where you are working and will participate in evening activities planned by our local staff.
Over the weekend you may have the chance to visit the central markets and local temples of Kathmandu as well as explore the hills around the city by mountain bike, or you could take a trip to the huge and beautiful nature reserve of Chitwan National Park.
Nepal has stunning green scenery and beautiful mountain ranges. There are many temples and stupas in and around Kathmandu. Nepali is the country’s official language and over 30 other languages are also spoken, many with roots in Tibet and India. The traditional Nepalese meal is called dal bhat, which consists of rice, lentils, sauce, and various vegetables. Small meat or vegetable dumplings called momos are popular as well.
