Although Argentina has made a lot of progress since the economic crisis in 2001-2002, it still faces considerable challenges as a result of income and regional poverty. Projects Abroad works with a number of disadvantaged communities in Argentina, which suffer from problems such as lack of education, marginalization, drug use, and general lack of support to children. As a Care volunteer, you will provide the individual support and attention that every child needs, but which the staff in the organizations we work with rarely get the chance to provide.
You will find there is a role for you whether you are volunteering during a gap year, summer vacation, career break, or if you are retired and want others to benefit from your experience. All we ask is that you have energy, enthusiasm, and a commitment to seeing the work through. Our local staff will provide support throughout your project.
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Argentina Care Management Plan.
If you would like to volunteer in Argentina with children, you will be working in one of many placements in Cordoba, Argentina’s second largest city, and the surrounding area. If you have a love of horses, then you could even contribute on our Equine Therapy project. When you apply, please let us know where you feel you would best be able to help and our staff will work with you to match you to a suitable placement.
If you are a high school student and first-time traveler you may want to consider our High School Special programs in Argentina.
This project is available for less than a month if you don't have time to join us for a month or more. This project has been selected by our local colleagues as being suitable for shorter durations for both the host community and the volunteer. Although you will gain valuable cultural insight and work intensely within the local community please be aware that you may not be able to make the same impact as someone participating for a longer period. Volunteers who can only join us for one week work in the community dining hall placements, and can also participate in the Community Farm Project for one or two mornings during the week.
