- Age Requirements: 16-19 years old

- Local Languages: English & Swahili
Based in the town of Arusha in northern Tanzania, this placement offers the chance to immerse yourself in local culture, living with a host family and working with young children.
During your time volunteering in Tanzania you will work in an orphanage or care center. Your time will be split between practical activities like building, renovating, painting, and decorating, and more care-based activities, including looking after and playing with the children.
English is becoming vital in the Tanzanian economy and the orphanages want the children to start learning English as soon possible. During your placement you and your fellow volunteers will be able to plan fun and interactive educational activities to do with the children to help and encourage them to learn English. You will live with other volunteers at a local host family during your stay.
During the weekend you will have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking scenery in one of Tanzania's national parks.
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Tanzania Care Management Plan.

Therefore, we were also able to teach the children a range of songs and nursery rhymes including ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’ and ‘hakuna matata’. Read more...
