You can intern in Mexico on a Physical Therapy project with Projects Abroad in Guadalajara. Depending on your experience, you could work in a busy city hospital or school for disabled children.
The city hospitals in Guadalajara are full of activity. As a Physical Therapy intern you will be able to shadow existing staff when treating patients. You could work with post operative patients and in rehabilitation. Your supervising therapist will help you gain experience, answer your questions, and discuss cases with you.
Experienced interns can work in a school for children with disabilities. These children need focused, one-to-one attention to help them with their motor skills and improve their quality of life.
You can discuss your placement preferences with Projects Abroad after you apply. We will assess your experience and help place you in the most beneficial environment.
Interns need to speak basic Spanish to participate in a Physical Therapy internship in Mexico. Interns who are unsure of their Spanish language skills can join a Teaching, Care, or Spanish Language Course project before doing their Physical Therapy project. This allows the opportunity to brush up on language skills before beginning the medical work.

Physical Therapy internships in Mexico are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.
