This project combines intensive Spanish lessons with the chance to experience a taste of Argentine culture while contributing to the local community. It is great for language students and anyone wanting to experience cultural immersion. You will live with a Spanish-speaking host family in Cordoba, a vibrant city set in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas mountain range.
Volunteers will receive two hours of Spanish lessons a day. Classes are interactive and you will be given encouragement every step of the way. You can put your new knowledge into practice on a daily basis as you get to know Cordoba and mix with local people. Whether you want to master the basics or improve on the Spanish you already know, the teaching will be adjusted to your level.
After your Spanish lessons you will have the opportunity to volunteer with children in the local community. Many children have been abandoned by their parents who can no longer care for them. As a volunteer you will spend time with the children doing fun educational activities, games, and sports.
Over the weekend volunteers will take a trip to the hills to see traditional villages. There may also be an opportunity to visit the former house of the famous Argentine revolutionary, Che Guevara.
This project is also available as a 4-week program on select dates. If you stay longer you will receive twice the hours of Spanish lessons and be able to spend more time at your placement. You will also be taken on more weekend trips in and around the vibrant Cordoba region
You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Argentina Care Management Plan.
