Coach Sports Abroad: International Track and Field Experience

The Olympics are well known for keeping audiences captivated around the world, with Track & Field being one of the biggest draws. The majority of track and field events require little or no equipment, so there are few people who haven’t at some stage in their lives taken part in track & field, such as a long jump at school or running a race against childhood friends.

The sheer variety of events that come under the Track and Field title means that there really is something for everybody; if you can’t run fast enough to compete in a sprint, then perhaps you have the endurance to run the mile? If running is not your thing then you might be better at a throwing or jumping event!

Although the majority of Track & Field events are for individuals, the way the sports are organized means that these individuals will usually form part of a larger team, which supports each of its members through their respective events.

The inclusive, team-oriented nature of Track & Field makes it a perfect development sport, and this is why Projects Abroad sends our volunteers out to work as Track and Field coaches in the overseas.

Volunteer Track and Field Coaching with Projects Abroad

You don’t have to be an expert in track & field to take part in one of our Track and Field Sports Projects. Volunteer coaching can be during a gap year, on a vacation from work or school or as part of a career break. An interest in track & field plus a basic knowledge of the main sports involved is all that’s required.

Projects Abroad has Track & Field Projects in India and Thailand. In both of these countries volunteer track and field coaching enables many more children to discover track & field, and realize their own potential. These projects also offer volunteers the opportunity to develop their own abilities while coaching sports abroad and to make a difference in the lives of the children they are working with.

If you volunteer as a Track and Field coach in India or Thailand you will see the sense of pride that a child gets from realizing that they have a natural ability in something. Furthermore, as you work with them to develop their talents, you will witness the way in which their increased self-esteem impacts their personal relationships.
