Volunteer in the Performing Arts Abroad

Dance in Romania

If you have a passion for the arts then you can really make a difference by volunteering on one of our performing arts placements abroad. By spending time on a performing arts project, you get to impart your knowledge about the art form you specialize in while learning about local traditions in the destination country.

We currently offer two performing arts projects: dance and drama. Both of these programs are based in the vibrant city of Brasov, Romania. For volunteers looking to do performing arts, we recommend that you have some background in either dance or drama in order to take on more independent work, though it’s not required to join the placements. As long as you have a general interest and are willing to fully invest yourself in your students, then you’ll have a fabulous time abroad!

Performing Arts Projects Abroad

Drama in Romania
Our drama project involves working on acting workshops, coaching drama groups, and helping students before performances. You can work with students who are in either secondary or primary school and sometimes provide basic English lessons as another component of the project. There are also opportunities to do intercultural exchanges by teaching students about your drama culture and traditions as you gain a better understanding of theater in Romania.

Dance in Romania
On our dance project in Romania, you get the opportunity to choreograph, coordinate dance groups, lead workshops, and assist in schools around Brasov. Normally you will be working with school groups or after school clubs, but there are also chances for you to work at day care centers to assist with dance therapy sessions. Depending on your length of stay, you may also get to partake in performances for children at orphanages or care centers.
